Original version with Italian subtitles. Free entry.
This is an intimate thriller that explores desire and the encounter between two very different characters. Raphaël, played by Raphaël Thiéry, is a man with only one eye, nearing sixty. He lives with his elderly mother in a small house on the edge of an abandoned mansion, where he works as a caretaker. His life is monotonous, filled with his passions, such as playing the bagpipes, and small daily tasks. However, when Garance, the artist and heir to the mansion, played by Emmanuelle Devos, returns, his routine will be completely disrupted.
The film delves into the evolution of desire and the growing tension between the two protagonists, creating a sensual atmosphere as their relationship challenges social conventions. The story is set in a context that feels suspended in time but addresses contemporary themes such as the relationship between gaze, gender, and societal norms.
With its blend of realism and fantastical elements, L’Homme d’Argile offers a deep reflection on psychological and social dynamics, all framed within a mysterious and sensual thriller.
